New Monument for the Szczuczyn Jewish Cemetery

A monument in the Jewish cemetery of Szczuczyn was replaced, correcting disinformation placed on the previous version. The new monument’s content was produced by findings from FODŻ, descendants of the Jewish community, the Podlaskie Voivodeship Office, the Institute of National Remembrance, and the Rabbinical Commission for Jewish Cemeteries in Poland. While not fully describing what transpired in the town, the monument is a step in the right direction. More details of what transpired in Szczuczyn during the war can be found online.

The commemoration effort was financed by Poland's Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, with support from descendants of Jews from Szczuczyn, Chief Rabbi of Poland Michael Schudrich, Paul Walsky, Michael Marvins, and Friends of Jewish Heritage in Poland, among others. FJHP particularly thanks Krzysztof Bielawski of FODŻ for his dedication to this project.
