Ozarów (Swietokrzyszkie)

Friends of Jewish Heritage in Poland is working to raise funds for the restoration of the Jewish cemetery in Ożarów.

The first record of the Zwoleń cemetery dates to the 1600s and operated until October 1942, when it was used by the Germans for a mass execution. Most of its tombstones were used by Germany to build walls and sidewalks. Unfortunately, this practice continued even after the war's end. In 2002 Ozarów Jewish descendants of the Ożarów Cemetery Reconstruction Project (organized by Norman L. Weinberg) and working with the Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw significantly restored the cemetery.

How you can help

Ozarów descendant Judah Feldman, a high school senior in the US, is proud to lead this new effort to clean and maintain the cemetery and he expresses gratitude to those who wish to bring light to Jewish history in Ożarów through donations. FJHP provides US-based 501(c)(3) supervision of commissioned work. Our partner FODŻ provides in-country expertise. Without outside financial support, however, activities can’t be undertaken. There is no one "else" to fund this work beyond donors like you.
